Ryanair carried over 5 million passengers in May, the company said today.

The airline said that its passenger traffic rose 22 per cent to 5.06 million, compared to 4.15 million in May 2007.

Ryanair said that over the year it carried 52.4 million passengers.

The load factor, or proportion of seats filled was 80 per cent in May 2008, unchanged from the same month a year ago.
