The prosecutor of Russia's Volga region of Saratov was killed overnight.

The prosecutor of Russia's Volga region of Saratov was killed overnight.

Yevgeny Grigoryev died after a man with silencer-equipped pistol attacked him near his apartment in the courtyard of the regional prosecutor's headquarters.

Police believe his murder could be linked to his anti-corruption drive.

Mr Grigoryev fought organised crime and introduced regional laws to fight corruption, media reports said.
