LONDON - Salman Rushdie was yesterday awarded the 1995 Author of the Year Award at Britain's most prestigious book awards ceremony for his much acclaimed novel The Moor's Last Sigh. He was presented with the prize for his - first novel since The Satanic Verses which earned him an Iranian death edict seven years ago - at the seventh annual British Book Awards.
