The RUC was last night still questioning a number of loyalists arrested in the Portadown area as part of an ongoing investigation into a range of serious crimes in the area.

Up to five men were detained in early morning raids on a number of homes.

Police gave no details of the crimes being investigated, but the officers involved were believed to include some of those engaged in the inquiries into the murder of a Catholic taxi driver, Mr Michael McGoldrick.
