RTE News apologised last night following a report from its Northern Editor, Mr David Davin-Power. Mr Davin-Power was reporting on a breaking story about an IRA statement concerning the fragility of the peace process and the shooting of a Catholic.
He was interviewed against a studio backdrop showing a mural with armed men and the words, "Our Day Will Come". A spokesman said they had apologies for showing "what we considered editorially an inappropriate background".
