London - The RSPCA yesterday criticised plans to use cyanide gas in a cull of hundreds of thousands of rabbits at a renowned beauty spot.

Experts at the animal welfare charity have called on Eastbourne Borough Council to switch methods for its planned slaughter on the South Downs. There are concerns that the poison could also kill rare species sheltering in burrows.
