Republican Sinn Fein (RSF) has denied that it has a military wing, writes Gerry Moriarty in Belfast. The party issued its denial yesterday following recent Dublin security source claims that former IRA members, linked to RSF, were responsible for last Sunday morning's Enniskillen bombing.
Mr Ruairi O Bradaigh, the RSF president, insisted yesterday that the party did not have a military wing, and neither was it the "political wing" of any other organisation.
Mr O Bradaigh noted that a group claiming to be "the true Irish Republican Army under the leadership of the Continuity Army Council" did issue a public statement last January. "From that statement it appeared to have the same political objectives as Republican Sinn Fein.
