LONDON - A German doctor arrested and cautioned for stalking the Princess of Wales was committed to a mental hospital yesterday after a court was told he was a potential threat to Queen Elizabeth.

Mr Klaus Wagner (37), originally of Heidelberg, was committed by Horseferry Magistrates Court to 28 days' observation and treatment at Clayberry Hospital, in northeast London.

"Psychiatrists have assessed him and come to the conclusion that he is deluded, that it is the queen who is at threat from him, and not the Princess of Wales," the prosecutor, Mr Nazir Afzal said.
