WHILE Bill Murray might be getting more of his fair share of attention for this weekend's Murphy's Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, those in the know are beating a path to other lesser known (on this side of the Atlantic) acts including American comedian Kathleen Madian's show.

She was voted the best female stand up comedian at the American Stand up Awards this year, and says she is particularly delighted to be in Kilkenny because that's where her family originally came from. "But I bet you guys are really sick of cheesy Americans coming over and talking about our roots," she said perceptively.
