ROME - A top cultural heritage official yesterday proposed charging admission to the Colosseum, the most famous monument of ancient Rome.

Visitors to the amphitheatre, completed by Emperor Titus in 80 AD, can currently enter at ground level without charge. Tickets must be bought to view the upper levels.
