Rome's second-largest airport of Ciampino has reoepend after being closed to all traffic following a telephone call claiming that a bomb was on board a cargo flight.

Inspections of aircraft found no evidence of a bomb, and Ciampino was reopened about an hour later, officials said.

Six flights were rerouted east to the city of Pescara.

Ciampino airport is mainly used by low-cost airlines, charter flights and private aircraft.
