The remit of the Criminal Assets Bureau should be expanded to track down large-scale tax-evaders, according to the Democratic Left candidate in Kildare North, Ms Catherine Murphy. If even one quarter of the £2 bn in unpaid taxes was recovered, it could make a major contribution to improving public services, she said.
