THE owner of a west of Ireland pub which was at the centre of a riot because of the large number of travellers frequenting the premises was yesterday at Glenamaddy Court awarded £2,000 damages arising out of the disturbances.

Ms Mary O'Neill, of Old Road, Tuam, Co Galway, brought a claim for damages against Galway County Council in respect of the Four Roads licensed premises at Glenamaddy, Co Galway, following a riotous assembly in June 1993. The claim arose out of damage to windows, furniture and fittings in the premises when stones were thrown after an angry crowd gathered outside.
