Mayo TD Michael Ring has confirmed that he is considering seeking a party nomination to run in the North-West constituency in next year's European elections.
"I have not ruled it in or out," he said yesterday. "I am under pressure from colleagues in the North-West constituency to run, but I have not made a final decision".
It is understood that the matter has been discussed at Fine Gael meetings in Mayo, with Mr Ring indicating his interest running for Europe. If he decides to seek a nomination, he will face competition from sitting FG MEP Jim Higgins.
