Revenue to buy second anti-drugs ship

The Revenue Comissioners is to buy a second vessel to combat drug smuggling.

The Revenue Comissioners is to buy a second vessel to combat drug smuggling.

Revenue chairman Frank Daly today signed the contract with Finnish company Uudenkaupunkin Tyovene for the purchase of the second cutter to join the RC Sirbheir.

The cutter will be built in Finland at a cost of €2.3 million and will be delivered in late 2009.

Revenue is also buying a container scanner to detect drugs and other items.
