Rethink on ties to monarchy

Ottawa - A senior Canadian cabinet minister has called for an end to Canada's ties to the British monarchy. "It's probably time for us to say, `It's been a great institution.' Perhaps on the death or demise of the incumbent queen, maybe we should have a new institution that maybe reflects Canada's priorities," the Industry Minister, Mr John Manley, told a newspaper.
