London - A decision on the future of Britain's national blood supply is to be announced - amid fears of a real risk that the human form of "mad cow" disease could be spread through donations.

Ministers are considering a report on an assessment of the risks from CJD, which the Health Secretary, Mr Frank Dobson, asked for last November.
