Repayment order on 16.5m loans

A man has been ordered to repay Bank of Scotland Ireland (BoSI) €16

A man has been ordered to repay Bank of Scotland Ireland (BoSI) €16.5 million for loans given to him for a property company.

Dermot O’Rourke, Naas, Co Kildare, had no arguable defence to the summary judgment application brought by the bank against him, Mr Justice Peter Kelly ruled in the Commercial Court yesterday.

The judge refused an application by his lawyers to postpone his order pending an appeal to the Supreme Court.

BoSI advanced the loans to Mr O’Rourke in July 2007 and February 2008, including a €15 million facility related to Oberstown Developments. The bank claimed it was agreed the loan would be repaid in full by August 27th last.
