Washington - The US Attorney General, Ms Janet Reno, promised a broad investigation into campaign finance allegations even though she rejected an independent counsel for fundraising telephone calls by President Clinton and the Vice-President, Mr Al Gore. Ms Reno said she had no regrets over her decision that there was insufficient evidence to warrant an outside special prosecutor to investigate calls from the White House by Mr Clinton and Mr Gore from 1994 to 1996.
