A 50-year-old man appeared at Cookstown Magistrates' Court yesterday accused of attempting to murder his 52-yearold wife. Mr Robert William Noonan, unemployed, of Sperrin View, Cookstown, Co Tyrone, who denies trying to kill his wife, Pamela, earlier this week, was remanded in custody until March 11th.

The charge arises out of an incident at the couple's home on Monday, when Mrs Noonan suffered severe burns. She is in a critical but stable condition in a Belfast hospital.
