The Minister for Sport, the Lord Mayor of Dublin and members of the Irish Sports Council will be present at Dublin airport tomorrow evening to greet the Irish Olympic team on their return from the Beijing games.

A large contingent of family, friends and supporters of the team are also expected to welcome the team back when their Lufthansa flight from the Chinese capital arrives at 5.15pm.

The majority of the 75 athletes, coaches and medical staff will be onboard the flight, with the exception of the equestrian team, which has already returned from its base in Hong Kong.

Minister Martin Cullen and Lord Mayor Eibhlin Byrne will greet the team upon landing at the airport and there will then be a brief limited access reception and press conference before the team is presented to the public in the arrivals hall.

A spokeswoman for Dublin Airport Authority said she expected a big attendance for the arrival and warned that space for supporters is limited in the building as services will be operating as normal.
