Kampala - Rebels raided a boarding school in northern Uganda and abducted at least 40 girls. The Lord's Resistance Army raided the school in Kalongo, about 248 miles north-east of Kampala on Saturday, a government newspaper reported.

The rebels passed over the boys' dormitory and went straight to the girls' dormitory where they forced the matron at gunpoint to open it, another newspaper said.
