A rare example of an original RIC auxiliary uniform will be among the items on brief display tonight at a lecture to commemorate the Anglo Irish Truce of 1921, writes .

The uniform is believed to have belonged to a member of the infamous K Company of the Auxiliaries, which was responsible for the burning of Cork city in December 1920.

It is one of a large number of uniforms, medals, photographs and documents on show as part of the exhibition to commemorate the Irish Volunteers of 1913 to 1923.

The display will be on view from 5.30pm at the River Lee Hotel on Western Road in Cork.

The lecture, by author Pádraig Ó Ruairc, begins at 7pm. The event is being organised by the Irish Volunteer Commemorative Organisation.
