Over 220 people have been killed in accidents caused by heavy wind and rain in Pakistan's southern city of Karachi, a provincial minister said today.

Officials earlier said that 43 people had been killed in the rain that lasted for three hours in country's biggest city and capital of southern Sindh province yesterday.

But Health Minister of Sindh Sardar Ahmed said a private welfare organisation had received bodies of another 185 people killed in rain-related accidents.

"Now the total number of those killed because of rain is 228," he said.
