Labour leader Pat Rabbitte will be canvassing in Kerry North today in a bid to win back Dick Spring's old Dail seat.

The former Tanaiste served the constituency from 1981 until he lost out to Sinn Fein's Martin Ferris in 2002.

Mr Rabbitte, who has faced pressure in recent days to declare whether he will enter a coalition with Fianna Fail after the General Election, will visit Tralee with his General Election candidate, Councillor Terry O'Brien.

A party spokesman said: "The next two months will see Pat Rabbitte conduct over 30 targeted constituencies visits, with particular focus on areas where Labour are hoping to make key seat gains in the forthcoming General Election."

Mr Rabbitte will also visit sitting Labour TD Breeda Moynihan-Cronin in her Kerry South constituency.
