The British government has decided "with regret" to end flight training in Northern Ireland for students at Queen's University Belfast. The armed forces minister, Mr Nicholas Soames, said last night in a written reply that the air squadron there produced fewer RAF pilots than any other university scheme. Air cadets would now be offered summer camps in Britain to gain flying experience.
