Santiago - Chilean President Eduardo Frei flew yesterday to a northern region hit by Tuesday's earthquake which killed at least eight people, injured about 100 and destroyed rural homes. Mr Frei said he would inspect the worst-hit areas of the Fourth Region, some 300 miles north of Santiago, before declaring it a disaster area. The two-minute tremor measured 6.8 on the open-ended Richter scale.
