Articles published by the Sunday Worldwere a "gross intrusion" on the right to privacy of a mother and and her child and they should be awarded aggravated, exemplary and punitive damages, counsel for Ruth Hickey said in the High Court yesterday.

Counsel for the newspaper rejected comparisons with Naomi Campbell and Princess Caroline cases. Judgment was reserved until at least October.

Ms Hickey (36) of Archer’s Wood, Castaheany, Dublin 15, is the partner of David Agnew, former husband of the singer known as Twink.
