CAIRO - Egyptian archaeologists have uncovered a Ptolemaic fortress in the Sinai, the first ever from that era found in the peninsula, the head of antiquities said yesterday.

The fortress was discovered at East Qantara near the Suez Canal, 174 km north east of Cairo, Dr Abdel Halim Nur Eddin said.
