Police in the North have seized counterfeit goods and manufacturing equipment worth more than €1.5 million.

The seizures, in various parts of Northern Ireland, were the result of several months' work, during which police discovered links to loyalist paramilitaries and both mainstream and dissident republican groups.

Searches and seizures by the Organised Crime Squad took place yesterday in Counties Tyrone, Down, Armagh and Antrim.

Items discovered included DVDs, CDs, computers, printers and multi-disc burners used to make the counterfeit discs.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said the seizures represented a "significant success". There were no arrests.
