Police in the North are searching for two burglars who beat a man in bed during a raid on his home in Co Down yesterday.
The victim, aged 55, needed hospital treatment for severe cuts and bruising to his head after the attack in Ardglass.
He was woken by two youths, aged 16-17, who broke into the house on Meadow Court just before 4.30am, police said.
The thieves demanded money and struck him over the head with an unknown weapon.
They then ransacked the house, seizing the keys to the man's Volkswagen Golf. The car was driven out of the driveway before it was abandoned and the pair fled on foot.
