Police in Belfast have launched a murder inquiry following the discovery yesterday of a body in a loyalist district on the outskirts of the city.

A man's body was discovered in a flat shortly before 3 p.m. at Gleneagles Gardens in the loyalist Ballybeen Estate in the east of the city.

Although police are treating the incident as murder, they have not indicated how the man died.

The area around the flat was sealed off while officers carried out an examination.

Police at Castlereagh have appealed to anyone who was in the Gleneagles Gardens area in the past 24 hours to contact them.
