Police appealed for information today after three petrol bombs were thrown into the mainly Protestant Fountain
estate in Derry.

Shortly after 12.10am police received a report that three petrol bombs had been thrown into the area from the direction of the nationalist Bennet Street.

All three fell short of houses, two igniting and burning out on the ground.

The third device, which did not ignite, was removed by police for further examination.
