A number of taxis were impounded during a new offensive against rogue operators in the Enniskillen area, the PSNI revealed today.

Five cab drivers are facing prosecution following the operation to enforce taxi legislation. Members of the Enniskillen crime team, the road policing unit in Omagh and the Driver and Vehicle Testing Agency were involved. The crackdown across the district which began last night also led to two other motorists being arrested for suspected drink driving. A PSNI spokeswoman said the taxis had been seized because of mechanical faults. Files are to be sent to the Public Prosecution Service for five drivers accused of a range of offences.
