Two foreign nationals have been arrested in Belfast as part of an international anti-terrorism investigation, police said tonight.

The man and woman, believed to be a nurse working at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, were detained by the Police Service of Northern Ireland under terrorism legislation.

Police would give few details about the arrests.

A spokeswoman said: "The man and woman are both foreign nationals and are being questioned about serious crime as part of an international investigation."
