A number of garda officers are travelling to the North tonight following the arrest of a man by the PSNI in relation to a number of deaths in the Dublin area in the late nineties.

Gardaí were contacted by the PSNI following the arrest of a 31 year-old man in Co Antrim.

It is understood the investigation surrounds a number of deaths at a care facility in the Dublin area in 1997 and 1998.

A statement this evening from An Garda Síochána said there was "no indication"  that  the deaths referred to were suspicious.
