Providence Resources, an Irish oil and natural-gas explorer, said has started to produce natural gas at its Vermillion 60 field off the US state of Louisiana.

The existing A7 well was re-entered and the production zone is flowing at 5 million standard cubic feet of gas a day, the company said in a statement.

“This new zone has excellent reservoir characteristics,” Providence said in the statement. The Aries Marine Lift Vessel Ram VIII was used to enter the well.
