Providence Resources confirmed it has been awarded a new licence for four blocks adjacent to its Spanish Point licence in the 2007 Irish Licensing Round.

The new area is adjacent to the licence that holds the Spanish Point gas condensate accumulation and the Burren oil discovery on the Co Clare coast.

Providence said it will operate this licence on behalf of partners Challenger Minerals (Celtic Sea) and Sosina Exploration and is planning to conduct a seismic survey on the acreage.
