JERUSALEM - Israel's left wing opposition has joined Palestinian leaders in condemning the government's latest moves to step up Jewish colonisation of the occupied territories.

The announcement that 300 mobile homes are to be sent to the territories has already been criticised by the PLO chairman, Mr Yasser Arafat, as a violation of the self rule peace accords. Other Palestinians have called the decision unacceptable, and the militant Islamist movement, Hamas, has called for mass protest.
