Some 60 students from NUI Maynooth, many of them wearing face masks, staged a protest outside the Bord Pleanala hearing. The students' union president, Mr John McCormack, said their presence was to indicate support for the people of Kilcock and the surrounding region. They were also concerned about the plant's impact as their university was five miles downwind of the site.
