Hundreds of building workers in Limerick were yesterday given protective notice as a result of unofficial industrial action at some of the major building sites in the city. The mid-west branch of the Construction Industry Federation said: "Builders are no longer in a position to plan projects, as a number of sites have been hit by recent unofficial stoppages. Sites affected include the University of Limerick and a major site at Annacotty where unofficial action has taken place over the last five weeks. Mr Eddie Keenan, industrial relations officer of the CIF, said it was mainly members of the Building and Allied Trade Union who were not abiding by agreed practice.
