Protection offers rejected

London - The former Liberal leader, Lord Steel, claimed yesterday that the accident which killed Princess Diana would not have happened had she retained her Special Branch protection. Lord Steel said that he did not mean to criticise the princess and stressed that she had made the decision to dispense with protection at certain times and it had not been withdrawn from her.
