THE Progressive Democrat TD, Mr Michael McDowell, has called on the Government to bring forward legislation immediately that will guarantee the right of journalists to protect their sources.
Criticising the Government for failing to accept either of two Progressive Democrat Bills on the issue, Mr McDowell said Irish law as it stood was not capable of being reconciled with the European Convention on Human Rights.
