THE Government Chief Whip, Mr Jim Higgins, has indicated that, the Coalition has no intention of running to the country in the wake of today's Budget.

He was speaking following the publication of the Government's legislative programme which gives no indication of a likely date for the general election.

The programme, which prioritises the Bills which the Government wants to publish before Easter, includes the Bail Bill to provide for the changes in the law resulting from the recent referendum.

The Finance Bill and the Social Welfare Bill, giving effect to the provisions of the Budget, will be published as a matter of course.

But among the 17 Bills being, prioritised are: the Equal Status Bill, the Children Bill, the Public Service Management Bill updating the Ministers and Secretaries Act 1924, the Local Government (Financial Provisions) Bill, the Fisheries (Commissions) Bill and, Greyhound Industry (Amendment) Bill.
