Science enthusiasts' aged 12 to 19 are invited to enter the annual Young Science Writers' Competition, which carries an overall prize of £250 and a perpetual trophy. There are also individual prizes in the three categories - science fiction, science fact and performance.

For the first time, entries with a marine theme, such as fishing, underwater exploration or ocean currents will be eligible for an additional set of prizes from the Marine Institute.

Entry forms are available from the science section of the RDS, Technology Ireland magazine or the Marine Institute. The closing date is February 27th.
