Private airline uses Aer Lingus cabin crew

THE privately owned airline CityJet operates a number of services from Dublin to Zurich using Aer Lingus cabin crew. A SIPTU official, Mr Paul O'Sullivan, said there was no comparison between the CityJet arrangement and the proposal that Delta Airlines would have a crew member on Aer Lingus flights to and from New York.

Mr O'Sullivan said the Zurich flights were originally Aer Lingus operations, and only a lack of aircraft prevented Aer Lingus planes being used. CityJet was being used in the equivalent of an aircraft lease deal. The plane is flown by CityJet crew, and the three cabin staff are SIPTU members of Aer Lingus.
