The republican prisoners' group Saoirse has restarted its campaign for the release of all paramilitary prisoners

The republican prisoners' group Saoirse has restarted its campaign for the release of all paramilitary prisoners. The group yesterday held a series of rallies across the North. Addressing a demonstration in Corn Market in Belfast city centre, Mr Phil McCullough of Saoirse said: "We have a ceasefire here, not peace. If there is to be real peace, then the prisoners must be released."

Another Saoirse member, Mr Martin Meehan, said the immediate repatriation of republican inmates in English jails was the most urgent prison issue.
