WHITEMOOR - A prison officer was free last night after being held hostage by two inmates at top security Whitemoor jail for more than nine hours. He was seized at noon in the Category A prison in Cambridgeshire, scene of a mass IRA breakout two years ago.
His ordeal ended at 9.20 p.m. when one of the inmates handed over a hobby knife.
