A former prison officer who became "infatuated" with an inmate and helped him to rob a Co Down shop has been jailed for two years. Belfast Crown Court heard that Valerie Gamble (30), a former RUC reservist from Newtownabbey, fell for Arron Rockett (32), while he was serving seven years at Magilligan jail for 10 armed robberies.

When Rockett was freed on Christmas parole in 1995 they went on the run and were caught in Belfast six months later. Rockett was jailed yesterday for seven years.
