TWO separate cases in which Co Wexford priests are accused of sexually assaulting young males were adjourned by Judge Sean O'Leary at Wexford Circuit Court yesterday pending the outcome of High Court hearings on legal applications by the defendants.

The priests are seeking orders in the High Court preventing their cases from going ahead in the Circuit Court on the grounds that the delay in bringing prosecutions has adversely affected their ability to make a proper defence.

Judge O'Leary adjourned both cases to the next sitting of the Circuit Court to await the outcome of the High Court hearings.
